Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its result. Maries County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or direct message may be kept long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server receives routine technical information about the visit:
- Page-view times and the pages opened
- The referring site, when one is supplied
- Device category and operating system
- Browser type and version
- Time spent on visited pages
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device. They help measure page traffic and broad use patterns through analytics services. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
Technical and submitted information is used only for operating, measuring, and supporting the website and its disclosed services. It may help with:
- Diagnosing errors and other technical faults
- Routing a search to the provider selected by the user
- Measuring which content is useful or needs improvement
- Maintaining reliable and responsive pages
- Displaying advertising based on available interest signals
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Maries County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general information about official records held by the Maries County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS repository, and Missouri Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the embedded search boxes. A query sent through one of them is governed by that company's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. Those choices are not controlled by Maries County Criminal History. Review the provider's policy before sending information.
Links to Other Websites
Links lead to sheriff pages, court portals, state agencies, legal-aid resources, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy terms apply. Review them before submitting personal information.
An advertising provider may use its own systems to recognize activity across websites and select targeted advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may be available to the following limited recipients:
- Advertising networks that serve content on the pages
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and site performance
- A search partner receiving a query that the user submits
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, so a breach-free service cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. A reported minor's data will be reviewed and deleted as required.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Missouri consumer-protection and privacy law may provide additional rights. The Missouri Sunshine Law, Chapter 610 RSMo, separately governs access to records held by public governmental bodies and does not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Opt out of certain processing where that choice applies
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Ask what personal information is held
- Seek deletion when the law permits it
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. The posted version will show its effective date and will govern from that date forward.
